WATERFRONT, ROSTREVOR
The proposal site is located within the settlement of Rostrevor, in the Mourne Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). To the north and south of the site are residential properties. To the east is Kilbroney Park, an extensive woodland, area of public open space and designated Area of Special Scientific Interest (ASSI). To the west are commercial buildings and the Rostrevor Quay and Carlingford Lough, which is a designated Special Protection Area (SPA) and ASSI. A detailed Contextual and Village Analysis was completed that revealed extensive local vernacular and Georgian Housing which informed our design, referencing scale, massing, density and use of materials. We endeavoured to create an authentic ‘Georgian village feel’ development that respected and responded to its surroundings consisting of a mixture of 45 No. apartments and semi-detached dwellings
